Why should I get a Goo-Phone?

A good friend of mine just emailed me asking why he should get the G1 knowing that I recently switched to one.  Without hesitation, I quickly created two lists, one positive and one negative.  Here is my email response:

Why I go to Giz

I love how Gizmodo reports tech news.  They add a bit of flare and sharp wit that is refreshing from the usual drab that is found on countless other sites, including mine!  Here is an example of their work:

Huge Hole Found on Earth’s Magnetic Field, Run Around In Panic Now

The news here is that while scientists thought that the solar breach happened when the Earth’s and the sun magnetic fields were in opposite directions, the data gathered from Themis has found exactly the opposite. In other words: These people don’t have a clue! RUN TO THE SHELTERS NOW!

Paper trail in the digital world

image

The other day I was required to update my insurance information. I find it interesting that in this day and age we are still using paper as our primary mode of information exchange with regards to personal data. With the cost of healthcare spinning out of control, one must wonder where are the oppertunities to help aliviate the bleeding. If I look at it on a personal, I see the paper trail as a massive drag on cost. Think about that for a minute on the number of hands that will need to touch my record. From the person who transfers my paper information to the people that manages the accounts of a region. We are not even talking about the number of hands that touch my record during a doctor’s visit or when I fill out a prescription. Now take one individual’s data and multiply that by tens of millions. One sheet of paper enacts a process of wasteful spending that though I worry about, have no solution for. Why? Because to aliviate that cost factor will require the removal of countless hands and elevated unemployment.

So as I sat and waited, I accept the necessary need to perform this task. Adding tech is not always a possibility when trying to mobilize a society.

Testing yet another tool that will allow me to post on the go. It is called wpToGo from Roundhill Labs. You can download the app from the market on your G1. This is a test post with a pic of my Sony Reader I took with my phone.

Wphone’s interface

So I am mobile blogging again. First attempt using the mobile plugin as an editor was ok but not great. I moved on to using the wphone plugin and I must say, it is like night and day. You gain near full access to all the features on the backend of your Wordpress install. Writing a post is actually practical on the G1 now. I guess I really have no excuse to post now.

Trying out mobile blogging again

Posted by mobile phone:
Even though th G1 can fully render my blog backend interface, it was a pain to post an entry with it. I had this mobile plugin for awhile but never really used it. Well I think it is time. If you like what you see from your phone and have a wordpress blog, give Andy Moore’s mobile plugin a try. The posting interface is not that bad. Will give it a more through testing when something is seriously chewing on my mind.
